Executive to Lead Nonprofit’s Board as of January 1, 2022

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (December 16, 2021) – The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit committed to funding support services for people affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley, has appointed Brian Powers, vice president of marketing and business development at Mid Hudson Construction Management (MHCM), to chair its board of directors effective January 1, 2022.For the past four years,Powers served as vice chairman and treasurer of Miles of Hope’s board. He replaces Salvatore V. Raccuia, M.D. as chair, after back-to-back years of ardent service.

“Brian’s innovative leadership and ability to target development opportunities, plus more than a decade of integrative marketing and operations experience, will ensure that Miles of Hope continues to expand its impact in the region,” said Pari Forood, executive director of Miles of Hope. “As the area’s only local breast cancer foundation, we have many people to help and a larger mission of limiting the physical, emotional and financial burdens of every person in our community that is battling breast cancer. Having a strong, active and passionate board – and people like Brian to lead it – brings us one step closer to moving that vital work forward.”

Powers is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College, with an MBA in Business and BA in Public Relations, and began his career as a senior admissions counselor for his alma mater before starting in a marketing director role at JGS CPA, formerly Judelson, Giordano and Siegel, CPA, PC. After two years, Powers was promoted in 2014 to vice president of marketing and business development at JGS, where he conceptualized and executed integrated marketing strategies that led to an overall annual increase in firm revenue. In April of 2021, Powers joined the team at MHCM, where he is part of the senior leadership team responsible for strategic marketing, business growth and development and operations initiatives.

A firm believer in the power of community, Powers currently serves as chair of the marketing committee for the Think Dutchess Alliance for Business. Formerly, he served on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Town of Wallkill and as a planning board member for the Town of Poughkeepsie. Powers also served on the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association and as an ambassador for the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“The mission of this organization is one that is near and dear to my heart and my past four years of service has only deepened my commitment,” said Powers. “I am honored to take on an even greater role and to help Miles of Hope continue making the incredible mark it has on those bravely fighting breast cancer battles in our community.”
