East Fishkill Fire Training Center
Developing a constructive solution for a top flight fire training center
East Fishkill Fire District covers 56 square miles including Interstate 84, the Taconic State Parkway and the Hudson Valley Research Park. The district answers approximately 2400 alarms a year and combines multiple fire companies including Stormville, Wicopee, Hillside Lake, and East Fishkill. They refer to themselves as “Four companies, one family.” The Fire District’s Headquarters and Training Facility was originally opened in 1997 and was in need of additional space for storage and expansion of the training facility which has a training tower, burn room and classroom.
The East Fishkill Fire Training Center has a reputation for being one of best training facilities in the tri-state area. MHCM was able to work with all constituents, including the firefighters and the commissioners, to achieve a solution that met the needs of all. The solution was the construction of a Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) to expand the multi-purpose training and storage facility that included:
- Multi-apparatus storage bays
- Training room and break room
MHCM assisted the Fire District in navigating the project through the relevant community and fire department boards and in achieving a satisfactory end result that suited the requirements of the firefighters as well as the commissioners.
