Hudson Valley Hospice
Keeping an important human service operating while building additional space
The mission of Hudson Valley Hospice is to care for those with life-limiting illness while promoting the quality of life for the living in Dutchess and Ulster counties. The number of patients that Hospice serves today is more than triple their original number and more space was desperately needed. Mid Hudson Construction Management was consulted when the project had run over budget while not being near completion.
It was MHCM’s recommendation to look at the project differently. Part of the project intention was to renovate the exterior of Hospice’s existing building while it was still in use. By following MHCM’s suggestion to convert the expansion to a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) we helped cut the budget by 5% and meet the challenge of doing the work while the existing building was in use and required the strictest safety standards.
The addition included offices, a new break room and conference room and the end result was a stylish practical solution that saved money.
